Sun Apr 13 11:52:12 UTC 2025: ## Russia Bombs Indian-Owned Pharmaceutical Warehouse in Ukraine, Heightening Tensions
**Kyiv, Ukraine/New Delhi, India – April 13, 2025** – A Russian missile strike on Saturday destroyed the main Kyiv warehouse of Kusum Healthcare, an Indian pharmaceutical company, the Ukrainian Embassy in New Delhi announced Sunday. The attack, which occurred on the 78th anniversary of India-Russia diplomatic relations, has been condemned by Ukraine as a deliberate targeting of Indian interests.
Akhilendra Mall, a Kusum Healthcare representative based in Sumy, Ukraine, confirmed the destruction of the warehouse, stating that it was the company’s central storage facility in the country. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, Mr. Mall reported that the company’s factory in Sumy remains operational despite ongoing heavy bombardment in the region. He also noted that he is currently the only Indian professional left in Sumy, a city heavily impacted by the conflict.
The Ukrainian Embassy statement criticized Russia for targeting Indian businesses while simultaneously celebrating its “special friendship” with India. The statement highlighted the destruction of medicines intended for children and the elderly.
Mr. Mall described the situation in Sumy as dire, with frequent rocket attacks and limited time to reach bomb shelters. He emphasized the intensity of the ongoing war, stating that Sumy experiences hundreds of rocket attacks daily, a situation mirrored in other major Ukrainian cities.
The Russian Embassy in New Delhi has not yet commented on the incident. The timing of the attack, coinciding with celebrations marking 78 years of diplomatic ties between Russia and India, has added further tension to the already strained relationship. The Russian Embassy did, however, mark the anniversary with a cycling rally.
