**Indore, Madhya Pradesh:** A Telugu Non-Resident Indian (NRI) working in North Carolina, USA, has fallen victim to a matrimonial scam, losing ₹2.68 crore to a brother-sister duo from Indore. The NRI, seeking a bride through a matrimonial website, connected with Barkha Jaiswani in 2023.

Over time, Jaiswani, under the pretense of financial hardship, successfully convinced the man to transfer the substantial sum to various accounts. His suspicions were aroused when a video call revealed inconsistencies between the woman he spoke to and her matrimonial profile photo. Further questioning yielded unsatisfactory answers regarding the money.

Following his suspicions, the victim traveled from the US to Indore and filed a police complaint. Investigations revealed Barkha’s real name to be Simran, a married woman who used a model’s photograph on her matrimonial profile.
