AUBURN, Ala. – The ninth-ranked Auburn Tigers defeated the No. 3 LSU Tigers 8-4 Friday night at Plainsman Park, snapping LSU’s nine-game winning streak. Auburn’s 13-hit attack powered their victory, improving their record to 24-10 overall and 7-6 in the SEC. LSU falls to 31-4 overall and 10-3 in conference play.

Auburn pitcher Samuel Dutton (5-2) earned the win, pitching six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. LSU starter Kade Anderson (6-1) took the loss. Auburn built a 6-0 lead by the fifth inning, highlighted by a three-run triple from Ike Irish and an RBI single from Cooper McMurray. LSU rallied in the seventh with three runs, but Auburn responded with another run in the bottom of the inning. LSU added a final run in the ninth.

LSU coach Jay Johnson acknowledged Auburn’s strong lineup, emphasizing the need for his team to learn from their mistakes and move forward. “Auburn has a good lineup, one of the better ones in the country,” Johnson stated. “They took a bunch of good at-bats…the sun comes up tomorrow and there’s another competition.”
