**Jaipur, India** – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Phil Salt produced a breathtaking boundary catch on Sunday, reminiscent of AB de Villiers’ legendary fielding feats, during their IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The incident occurred on the last ball of the 13th over. RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal slog-swept Krunal Pandya’s delivery to deep mid-wicket. Salt, displaying exceptional athleticism, launched himself to take a stunning catch, but with his body falling over the boundary rope, instinctively threw the ball back into play, preventing at least five runs from being scored. Social media erupted in praise, with many comparing the play to the legendary catches of former RCB star, AB de Villiers.

While Jaiswal eventually scored 75 (47), Salt’s incredible effort could prove crucial in the match. The save helped restrict RR to 173/4, leaving RCB needing 174 runs for victory. Salt, who has impressed with both bat and glove this season (143 runs in five innings), has quickly become a valuable asset for RCB, showcasing exceptional fielding despite his primary role as a wicketkeeper. This follows another impressive diving catch against the Mumbai Indians earlier in the tournament where he similarly threw the ball back into play, even though he was falling.

RCB will now look to Virat Kohli and Salt to chase down the target at a rate of 8.7 runs per over.
