Sat Apr 12 16:42:23 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Police Add “Public Nuisance” to Training Curriculum

**Bengaluru, April 12, 2025** – In a move aimed at improving community relations and proactive policing, Karnataka police have introduced a novel training module focusing on public nuisance issues for newly recruited sub-inspectors and constables. This is believed to be a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.

The new syllabus addresses increasingly common neighborhood disputes, including pet-related conflicts, noisy parties, improper garbage disposal, and public spitting. According to police officials, over half of the calls received by the 112 emergency response system relate to such issues, which, if mishandled, can escalate into more serious law and order problems.

The training emphasizes practical application over theoretical legal knowledge. The curriculum will teach officers conflict resolution techniques, including mediation and counseling, to address these issues amicably before they escalate. A senior police official highlighted the importance of this approach, citing past instances where seemingly minor neighborhood disputes escalated to violent crimes.

ADGP Training, Alok Kumar, emphasized the significance of this new module, stating that while these issues might seem trivial initially, neglecting them can lead to more serious consequences. The practical nature of the training will better equip officers deployed in urban and rural areas to handle such daily occurrences effectively.
