**Dewas, M.P. – April 13, 2025** – A priest at the Mata Tekri temple in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals who forcibly entered the temple after closing hours. The incident occurred late Friday night (April 11, 2025) and involved a large group arriving in multiple vehicles, some displaying red beacons.
According to police, the group, led by Jitu Raghuvanshi, a man with a prior criminal record, demanded entry to the temple. Upon the priest’s refusal, he was allegedly verbally abused and physically assaulted. An FIR has been registered, and police are reviewing footage from approximately 50 CCTV cameras installed at the temple.
City Superintendent of Police Dinesh Agrawal confirmed the incident and the ongoing investigation, but declined to confirm allegations that the son of a BJP MLA was involved, stating that the matter is under investigation. However, Dewas city Congress president Manoj Rajani publicly accused the son of a BJP MLA of leading the group.
Social media videos circulating show vehicles with red beacons among the fleet that arrived at the temple. The investigation is underway.
