Sun Apr 13 06:25:23 UTC 2025: ## Eight Pakistani Workers Killed in Iran by Baloch Militants

**Zahedan, Iran –** Eight Pakistani nationals were murdered in a targeted attack in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, Iranian authorities confirmed on Sunday. The victims, all residents of Bahawalpur, Punjab province, Pakistan, were working at a car repair shop in Meharistan district when unknown gunmen stormed the premises Saturday night.

According to reports, the assailants bound the workers before opening fire, killing all eight. The Balochistan National Army (BNA), a banned militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement released to the media. Iranian police are currently investigating the incident.

This marks the second such attack targeting Pakistani workers in the region in less than two years. In January 2022, nine Pakistani mechanics were similarly killed in Saravan city. The killings highlight the ongoing tensions and insurgency in the Balochistan region, affecting both sides of the Iran-Pakistan border.

The incident comes amidst a long-running struggle for greater autonomy in Balochistan, with local groups expressing grievances over resource exploitation and perceived neglect by governments. The history of cross-border conflict was further underscored by a series of attacks and retaliatory strikes between Iran and Pakistan last year, fueled by the activities of militant groups operating in the region. The recent killings are likely to further escalate tensions between the two countries.
