**THOOTHUKUDI, April 12, 2025** – Construction has begun on a long-awaited service road in Thoothukudi, aimed at easing traffic congestion. The ₹94.54 lakh project, inaugurated by Minister of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment P. Geetha Jeevan, is part of a larger overbridge project on the Madurai-Thoothukudi road.

The 400-meter road, located near the Thoothukudi side and Jeyaraj Road area, was delayed for five years before work commenced. The State Highways Department anticipates completion within three months. Upon completion, the service road is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and connectivity for commuters in the region.
