**Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, April 13, 2025** – A jallikattu event in Meenampatti village, Pudukottai district, ended in tragedy on Sunday, resulting in one death and 24 injuries. The nearly six-hour event involved 571 bulls and approximately 300 participants.
R. Marimuthu, a 23-year-old bull owner from Porpanaikottai, succumbed to his injuries after being gored in the chest by a bull at the collection point. Despite immediate medical attention from a health department team on-site, he was pronounced dead at Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital.
Thirteen of the injured were transferred to the same hospital for further treatment, while eleven others received outpatient care at the event. Police are investigating the incident.
