**Copake, NY – April 13, 2025** – A Mitsubishi MU-2B carrying six people crashed in a muddy field near Copake, New York, on Saturday, resulting in at least one fatality. The plane, en route to Columbia County Airport, went down at approximately 12:15 p.m. local time, about 50 miles south of Albany.
Columbia County Sheriff’s office reported that difficult terrain and weather conditions hampered emergency response efforts. Undersheriff Jacqueline Salvatore cited snow and mud as obstacles to accessing the crash site. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident. The NTSB is expected to release further information on Sunday. The number of additional injuries, if any, has yet to be confirmed.
