Sun Apr 13 13:43:07 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Seafood Exports Resume After US Tariff Dispute

**GARALADIBBA, KRISHNA DISTRICT, April 13, 2025** – Aquaculture activity in Andhra Pradesh has rebounded following the resumption of seafood exports to the United States after a 90-day pause on a 26% import duty. Farmers and exporters are back at work, shipping products to the US and other international markets.

The temporary tariff hike reportedly caused losses exceeding ₹1,000 crore for farmers and stakeholders. However, intervention by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu helped resolve the issue. Subba Raju of the A.P. Prawn Farmers’ Welfare Association expressed gratitude for government intervention and urged negotiations for a US-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Shrimp prices remain stable, with prices ranging from ₹100 per kg for 100-count shrimp to ₹315 per kg for 50-count shrimp. The reduced cost of feed has further assisted farmers. The positive developments signal a return to normalcy for the vital aquaculture sector in Andhra Pradesh, which significantly contributes to the state’s economy.
