**Vijayawada, April 13, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government has approved ₹4,471 crore in advance tariff subsidies for electricity distribution companies (Discoms) for the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year. This payment, sanctioned to the A.P. Power Coordination Committee (APPCC), is part of a larger ₹12,940 crore budget allocation for power subsidies covering the entire fiscal year (April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026). The government’s action is in compliance with Section 65 of the Electricity Act of 2003, which mandates advance quarterly subsidy payments to Discoms. The funds will be directly transferred to the Discoms’ bank accounts.
