**Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu –** Anbumani Ramadoss, newly asserted president of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), oversaw preparations Sunday for the party’s Chithirai full moon Vanniyar conference, scheduled for May 11th in Mamallapuram. The conference, the first in 12 years, aims to advocate for a caste census and the protection of existing 69% reservation quotas in Tamil Nadu for backward classes.
Ramadoss emphasized the need for representation based on population, highlighting the disparity between the economic development and TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation) sales in northern Tamil Nadu. He called for focused development initiatives in the region. He also expressed his desire for a peaceful conference.
Addressing the recent conflict with his father and PMK founder, S. Ramadoss, Anbumani described it as an “internal matter” to be resolved within the party. The announcement comes a day after he officially took over the party leadership. PMK spokesperson K. Balu was among those present at the event.
