**NANDYAL, April 13, 2025** – The Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam is gearing up for its annual Kumbhotsavam festival on April 15th. This year, the festival will emphasize a strict ban on animal sacrifice, with officials implementing measures to ensure compliance.
The Kumbhotsavam, a ritual offering of fruits, vegetables, and cooked rice to Goddess Bhramaramba, will be observed with special pujas conducted in solitude. Devotees will only be permitted darshan between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Arjitha sevas (special pujas) at both the Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba temples will be suspended in the evening, resuming the following day. Kalyanotsavam and Ekanta seva have also been cancelled for the day.
Temple Executive Officer M Srinivasa Rao has directed various departments to prevent any animal slaughter within the temple town. This includes increased vigilance by police, checks at tollgates by revenue officials, and monitoring by RTC officials on buses entering Srisailam. Signage prohibiting animal slaughter will also be installed throughout the temple town.
With a large number of devotees anticipated, the temple is also taking measures to prevent stampedes and maintain order within the queue lines.
