**LOS ANGELES, CA –** The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today the creation of a new Academy Award for Achievement in Stunt Design, recognizing the crucial role of stunt professionals in filmmaking. The award will debut at the 100th Academy Awards ceremony, honoring films released in 2027.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang stated that stunt design has been fundamental to cinema since its inception. The new category reflects the Academy’s commitment to acknowledging the artistry and dedication of these skilled professionals.
