**Delhi, India** – Delhi Police have arrested a 25-year-old man, Vishal alias Katia, for allegedly attempting to extort ₹13 crore (approximately $1.5 million USD) from a 24-year-old YouTuber. The arrest, made within 24 hours of the complaint being filed, follows a series of threatening calls made to the victim on April 9th.
The YouTuber reported receiving multiple calls from an unknown number while in Bawana Sector-1. The caller threatened the victim with death unless the extortion demand was met. Police say the accused claimed knowledge of a property inheritance received by the YouTuber’s wife, specifically mentioning her share of land. The calls culminated in a final, aggressive threat demanding the ₹13 crore payment.
A case was registered at the Bawana Police Station, leading to Vishal’s swift apprehension near Nirmal Vatika in Bawana. Police recovered the mobile phone used to make the extortion calls. Vishal, a resident of Bawana with a prior criminal record, is currently in custody.
