**Jammu, April 12, 2025** – An Indian Army soldier was killed in a gunfight during a counter-infiltration operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials announced today. Subedar Kuldeep Chand, of the 9 Punjab regiment, died while leading the operation in the Keri-Battal area of Sunderbani on the night of April 11th. The White Knight Corps, the Army’s Jammu-based unit, praised his bravery and sacrifice, stating that his team successfully thwarted a terrorist infiltration attempt.
The incident comes amidst heightened security operations in the region. Separately, the White Knight Corps reported the elimination of two more Pakistani terrorists in an ongoing operation in Kishtwar district. This brings the total number of terrorists killed in that operation to three. A significant quantity of weapons, including AK and M4 rifles, were recovered.
Authorities are also conducting a large-scale operation targeting terrorists who infiltrated from across the International Border into Kathua district last month. That operation follows an incident on March 28th where four police personnel were killed, and two terrorists were neutralized. Kathua has reportedly become a key infiltration route for Pakistan-based terrorists aiming to reach higher altitudes in Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, and eventually Kashmir.
