Sat Apr 12 00:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Stallions’ Corral to Start Against Renegades After McGough Injury

**BIRMINGHAM, AL** – Matt Corral will lead the Birmingham Stallions into their home opener against the Arlington Renegades this Friday, filling in for the injured Alex McGough. McGough, the 2023 USFL MVP, suffered a shoulder injury on the first play of last week’s win over the Michigan Panthers and has been placed on injured reserve for at least five games.

Corral, who saw action in three games for Birmingham in 2024, will be making his first start of the 2025 season. In his last outing against Michigan, he threw for 198 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. His performance included a 52-yard touchdown pass to Deon Cain, who will be sidelined for Friday’s game. Case Cookus will serve as Corral’s backup.

The Renegades, currently 2-0, pose a significant challenge. Their roster boasts UFL leading passer Luis Perez, a familiar face in Birmingham from his time with the Birmingham Iron, and the league’s top rusher, Kalen Ballage. The game, airing on FOX at 7 p.m. CDT, will be a rematch of sorts, as the Renegades only managed three wins in the 2024 season. The Stallions, meanwhile, are currently 1-1. Adding to the Stallions’ roster is former Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley, who signed this week as the team’s third-string quarterback.
