**Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico** – Popular narcocorrido singer Luis R. Conriquez has announced he is abandoning the genre to avoid promoting criminal activity. The singer made the announcement on social media, stating that while it’s difficult to stop performing the music his fans enjoy, he is committed to the cause of eliminating narcocorridos.
Conriquez wrote on social media, “We’re entering a new stage. No more corridos. It feels bad not being able to sing what people want to hear, but we’re joining the cause of zero corridos and moving forward.” He also assured his fans that those who support him will continue to do so, even if he switches to a different genre like bachata.
