Sat Apr 12 07:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Hyatt Hotels Bets Big on India’s Booming Tourism Sector
**CHENNAI, INDIA** – Hyatt Hotels is aggressively expanding its presence in India, aiming to capitalize on the country’s burgeoning middle class and robust domestic travel market. The company plans to open six new hotels in India this year, bringing its total to 100 within the next five years – a doubling of its current portfolio.
This expansion strategy reflects a broader trend among global hospitality brands seeking to tap into India’s massive and growing consumer market. Hyatt executives cited India’s large and rapidly urbanizing population, coupled with increased domestic travel, as key drivers for their ambitious growth plans.
Carina Chorengel, a senior executive at Hyatt, confirmed that the company expects double-digit revenue growth in India for both the current and next fiscal years. This optimistic outlook mirrors similar projections from other international companies investing in India’s long-term potential. Sunjae Sharma, managing director of Hyatt India and Southwest Asia, reinforced this projection, highlighting the sustained growth trajectory in the region.
The expansion will cover a range of locations, including both larger cities and smaller ones like Ghaziabad and Kochi, demonstrating Hyatt’s commitment to reaching a wider segment of the Indian market. This move follows a similar announcement from competitor Hilton Worldwide, which also announced plans for significant expansion in the Indian hotel market.
