**Concord, NC** – Hendrick Motorsports announced the death of Jon Edwards, their director of racing communications, on Thursday. The team described Edwards as a “consummate professional” with an exceptional ability to build strong relationships. While the cause of death and exact length of his tenure weren’t disclosed, a social media post from March 27th indicated he celebrated his 31st anniversary with the team’s No. 24 car.

Edwards’ passing has deeply affected the NASCAR community. Former driver Jeff Gordon, who drove the No. 24 car for many years, expressed his devastation, highlighting Edwards’ loyalty, hard work, and selflessness. Current Hendrick driver Kyle Larson also shared his grief and gratitude for the memories they shared. Tributes poured in from numerous NASCAR media figures as well.

During Edwards’ 31 years with Hendrick Motorsports, the team achieved remarkable success, accumulating over 275 Cup Series wins and all 14 of its championships. Edwards was reportedly around 53 years old.
