Sat Apr 12 03:06:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Braces for Scorching Temperatures

**Hyderabad, April 12, 2025** – Telangana is expected to experience a significant rise in temperatures over the coming weeks, with forecasters predicting a 2-3 degree Celsius increase across the state. Currently, maximum temperatures range from 38-39°C in Hyderabad and up to 42°C in northern districts like Adilabad and Kumaram Bheem Asifabad. However, the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) senior weather consultant, Y. V. Rama Rao, warns that temperatures could soar to 41°C or higher in Hyderabad and 42-43°C in other districts by mid-April, potentially reaching 44-46°C in northern Telangana by May. Minimum temperatures are also expected to rise.

This surge is attributed to the strengthening of northerly winds, replacing the current easterlies from the Bay of Bengal. While recent evenings have seen light rain and thunderstorms due to the moisture-laden easterlies, this pattern is expected to change. Citizens are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to mitigate the risk of heatstroke.

Mr. Rama Rao emphasized that despite the upcoming heatwave, the summer so far has been relatively normal, with some areas in northern Telangana experiencing slightly above-average temperatures. Overall rainfall since June 2024 has been 107.1 cm, exceeding the normal average of 88 cm by 22%. Fourteen districts have reported excess rainfall during this period.
