Sat Apr 12 05:51:00 UTC 2025: ## IRCTC Denies Tatkal Ticket System Overhaul
**NEW DELHI, April 11, 2025** – The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has issued a statement denying recent social media reports claiming changes to its Tatkal ticket booking system. Rumors circulated online suggesting altered booking times for both AC and non-AC classes, as well as for agents, starting April 15th. However, IRCTC explicitly stated that no such changes are planned.
The clarification follows the spread of misleading posts on various social media platforms, falsely advertising different timings for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets. IRCTC emphasized that the booking times for both remain unchanged. Agent booking permissions also remain unaffected.
The current Tatkal booking timings remain: 10:00 IST for AC classes (2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) and 11:00 IST for non-AC classes (SL/FC/2S), one day prior to the journey date, excluding the day of travel from the train’s originating station. Tatkal tickets are available for all classes except First AC.
Tatkal tickets are a last-minute booking option offered by Indian Railways through the IRCTC app and website. They are sold at a premium: 10% of the basic fare for second class and 30% for all other classes, subject to minimum and maximum limits. It is important to note that confirmed Tatkal tickets are non-refundable, though cancellation charges apply to contingent and waitlisted tickets according to existing railway rules.
