Chennai, Tamil Nadu – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday denounced the recently formed alliance between the AIADMK and the BJP as a corrupt arrangement driven by the BJP’s desire for power. He accused AIADMK leaders of “mortgaging” the state to the BJP after facing central agency raids.
Stalin claimed the alliance is a result of the BJP exploiting the AIADMK’s vulnerability following investigations into its leaders. He described the alliance as a “scam” cemented by corruption and said the Tamil Nadu people are aware of this. He pointed out that the alliance has failed repeatedly in previous elections.
He questioned the lack of transparency surrounding the alliance’s common minimum program (CMP), noting the absence of discussion on crucial issues for Tamil Nadu, such as opposition to NEET, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, and concerns about potential delimitation reducing the state’s Lok Sabha seats. Stalin also criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not addressing these concerns and focusing instead on criticizing the DMK and the state government.
Stalin characterized the alliance as a power grab that threatens Tamil Nadu’s culture and autonomy, accusing the BJP of aiming to impose Hindi and manipulate electoral boundaries. He painted the AIADMK as having succumbed to the BJP’s pressure, essentially surrendering the state’s interests. He concluded by asserting that the people of Tamil Nadu will rebuke the AIADMK for its actions.
