**Khammam, Andhra Pradesh:** Renowned environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Vanajeevi Ramayya passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday morning. He suffered a heart attack at his home in Reddy Palli, Khammam district. Ramayya, whose name translates to “forest dweller,” dedicated his life to planting trees, reportedly planting over 10 million saplings. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2017 for his exceptional contribution to environmental conservation. His legacy of environmental stewardship will be remembered for generations.
