Fri Apr 11 23:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Hanuman Jayanti Celebrated Amidst Violence in West Bengal
**New Delhi, India** – Hanuman Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the Hindu deity Lord Hanuman, will be observed on April 12th, 2025. Devotees will mark the occasion with prayers and offerings, seeking blessings from the “God of the Kali Yuga,” believed to still reside on Earth. It is believed that sincere worship on this day fulfills wishes. While red is considered the most auspicious color to wear, devotees are advised to avoid black and white, along with excessively dark or bright colors. Leather items should also be avoided during prayers and temple visits.
However, celebrations are overshadowed by ongoing violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, stemming from protests against the Wakf Act. Friday saw protestors throwing stones at trains at Nimtita railway station, leading to diversions and cancellations of several train services. BSF troops have been deployed in Shamsherganj to quell the unrest and prevent further violence and arson.
