Fri Apr 11 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Dhoni’s Captaincy Fails to Prevent Another CSK Defeat
**Chennai, India** – MS Dhoni’s captaincy couldn’t prevent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from suffering a crushing 8-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday. CSK, batting first at the Chepauk Stadium, managed a paltry 103/9. KKR chased down the target in just 10.1 overs, losing only two wickets in the process, marking CSK’s fifth consecutive loss.
Sunil Narine was the star for KKR, delivering a stunning all-round performance. He first took 3 wickets for just 13 runs with his economical bowling, dismissing key players like Rahul Tripathi, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dhoni himself. He then smashed a quickfire 44 off just 18 balls, including five sixes, to further dismantle CSK’s hopes. Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana also contributed with 2 wickets each for KKR.
Shivam Dube (31) and Vijay Shankar (29) were the only CSK batsmen to offer any significant resistance, with Shankar’s innings briefly raising hopes of a competitive total before Chakravarthy’s breakthrough dismissed him. The fall of Shankar’s wicket triggered a collapse, with CSK losing 6 wickets for just 20 runs after reaching 59/3.
Despite Nur Ahmed, CSK’s spinner and current holder of the Purple Cap, taking a wicket, it wasn’t enough to stem the tide. KKR’s victory propelled them up the points table from sixth to third place. Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants currently holds the Orange Cap.
