Fri Apr 11 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Tonight Through Friday
**Columbia, SC —** A shift in weather patterns will bring rain and thunderstorms to the Midlands tonight and into early Friday, according to the WLTX 19 weather team. While a few isolated showers may linger into Friday afternoon, drier and warmer conditions are expected by early next week.
A low-pressure system and cold front approaching the area will cause the unsettled weather. Scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to develop overnight, with temperatures in the lower to mid-70s this afternoon, dropping to the low to mid-50s overnight. While areas further west may experience stronger storms, the Midlands are expected to see only a few isolated thunderstorms.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday morning, with the far eastern Midlands under a marginal risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather, according to the Storm Prediction Center. Rain chances will decrease as the system moves out, though scattered showers remain possible throughout the day. Winds will be breezy, and temperatures near seasonal norms.
Saturday will see a few isolated showers possible in the east, but mostly dry conditions and slightly cooler than average temperatures are anticipated.
The forecast becomes much calmer Sunday and into next week, with an upper ridge bringing dry weather and warmer than normal temperatures. While a front is expected mid-week, significant rainfall is unlikely.
