**Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh – April 11, 2025** – The Uttarandhra Ambedkarites Association has called on the Indian Union and state governments to increase reservations for backward classes to 52%, reflecting what they claim is their 55% share of the national population. This demand was made on the 198th birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotirao Phule, with association members paying tribute at his statue in Vizianagaram. Currently, reservations for backward classes are capped at 25% in many Indian states. Association president Pandranki Venkata Ramana led the call for increased representation.
