**Tiruppur, April 11, 2025** – A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two people early Friday morning on the Coimbatore-Trichy Road near Palladam in Tiruppur district. A speeding ambulance, carrying a patient and his family, collided with a stationary lorry.
Murugan (65), a lorry driver from Thanjavur, was being transported to Coimbatore for further medical treatment following a spinal injury sustained at work. He was accompanied by his wife, Kalyani (58), and daughter, Pavitha (33). Around 5 a.m., their ambulance, driven by 19-year-old Kaviarasan, crashed into a parked lorry. Murugan died at the scene, and Kalyani was declared dead on arrival at Palladam government hospital after suffering a head injury.
The ambulance driver and his helper sustained multiple fractures, while Pavitha received minor injuries. Police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. An investigation is underway.
