**Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu:** A private school in Coimbatore district has suspended its headmistress after a video went viral showing an eighth-grade girl being made to sit outside the classroom to take her annual exam because she was menstruating.
The incident occurred on the 7th and 9th of this month at the school, which has over 500 students. The girl’s mother, upon learning of the incident, filmed the event and shared it on social media. She also filed a complaint with the district sub-collector’s office.
Police investigated the matter, and the school administration claimed that the girl’s parents requested she be seated separately to prevent the spread of germs. However, following the online outrage caused by the video, the headmistress, Anandini, was suspended.
