Fri Apr 11 07:44:57 UTC 2025: ## 26/11 Mumbai Attack Co-conspirator Tahawwur Rana Extradited to India

**New Delhi, April 11, 2025** – Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was extradited from the United States and arrived in India on Thursday, April 10th. The 64-year-old Pakistani-Canadian businessman, a close associate of David Coleman Headley, was brought to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and subsequently appeared before a special NIA court.

Rana, who had unsuccessfully attempted to avoid extradition, was flown back on a special flight after his appeals failed. On Friday, April 11th, a court remanded him to 18 days of NIA custody. He was then transported to NIA headquarters under heavy security.

Rana is accused of conspiring with Headley and members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami (HUJI) to plan and execute the three-day siege of Mumbai in November 2008. The attacks, which targeted a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish center, resulted in the deaths of 166 people. Rana’s extradition marks a significant step in bringing those responsible for the devastating attacks to justice.
