**Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India** – A 27-year-old army soldier, Vikrant Gurjar, was found shot dead in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday morning. Gurjar, stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, was home on a four-day leave to testify in a murder case involving his cousin.
The incident occurred sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Gurjar’s family reported him missing after he failed to return from an evening walk. His body was later discovered by villagers near a road, with gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
According to the family, Gurjar was a key witness in the murder of his cousin, Rajat, four years ago. While police are yet to receive a formal complaint, they have initiated an investigation, sent the body for post-mortem examination, and deployed additional police forces to the village to prevent further incidents.
