**Hyderabad, Telangana – April 11, 2025** – Telangana’s new citizen grievance redressal platform, Prajavani, is proving to be a transformative initiative, addressing long-standing issues of bureaucratic apathy and inaccessibility. Launched in December 2023 by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Prajavani has repurposed the former Pragati Bhavan, once a symbol of inaccessibility, into a welcoming space where citizens can directly voice their concerns.

For years, countless citizens faced frustrating delays and denials in accessing government services. The article highlights the struggles of individuals like K. Pitchaiah, a farmer battling for decades to secure a land possession document, and Rukmini, whose land records were erroneously altered. These cases exemplify the systemic issues that Prajavani aims to address.

The program’s success is evident in its rapid resolution of several long-standing grievances. Pitchaiah received his land document, Rukmini’s land records were corrected, and Juman Bi secured crucial medical treatment for her daughter – all within days of registering their complaints.

Prajavani operates on Tuesdays and Fridays, receiving a steady stream of petitioners. Each receives a unique ID, ensuring accountability and transparency. The platform leverages specialized desks for high-volume departments like Revenue and Welfare, offering immediate support and solutions. A dedicated ‘Pravasi Prajavani’ counter caters to the needs of migrant workers abroad.

The initiative goes beyond simply receiving complaints. It emphasizes direct engagement, root cause analysis to improve policy, and a citizen-first approach. The government is actively using data analysis, including AI, to identify and prevent future problems. Capacity building measures are also underway, training officials to efficiently and effectively handle grievances. Decentralization is a key element, with pilot programs extending grievance counters to the gram panchayat level.

While challenges remain, particularly with cases requiring complex investigations or inter-departmental coordination, Prajavani has registered 53,303 petitions since its launch, resolving 35,001 (66%) to the satisfaction of applicants. The government aims to improve this resolution rate to 70%.
