VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – A national-level meeting on communal harmony, “United for Harmony,” will be held in Vijayawada on April 13th, organized by the Andhra Pradesh chapter of the Society for Communal Harmony. The event, taking place at P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science, will feature prominent figures such as Rajya Sabha member Imran Pratapgarhi as chief guest and Ramon Magsaysay Award recipient Prashant Bhushan.

In the lead-up to the meeting, Mr. Bhushan will participate in various interactive sessions, including one with Siddhartha Law College students on electoral reforms and another with the Bezawada Bar Association on the rule of law.

At a press conference announcing the event, organizers expressed concern over rising communal tensions in Andhra Pradesh, urging people to participate and strengthen communal harmony. Speakers criticized the BJP government’s alleged use of communal polarization for political gain and raised concerns about the Waqf Amendment Bill. The event aims to foster dialogue and address growing concerns about religious and communal disturbances in the state.
