**New Delhi, April 11, 2025** – A new Aadhaar app, unveiled by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, promises to revolutionize identity verification in India. The app, currently in beta testing, utilizes QR code-based instant verification and real-time face ID authentication, eliminating the need for physical Aadhaar cards or photocopies.

Minister Vaishnaw, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), likened the ease of the new system to making a UPI payment. Users can simply scan a QR code displayed at various points of authentication – similar to UPI payment QR codes – and verify their identity instantly through facial recognition. The app ensures only necessary data is shared, providing users with complete control over their personal information.

The app offers several key advantages: it prevents misuse and leaks of Aadhaar data, protects against forgery, and eliminates the need to carry physical copies. The integrated Aadhaar Face Authentication feature alone boasts over 15 crore monthly transactions.

While currently available to a limited group of beta testers, UIDAI plans to release the app to the public soon, based on feedback received. This initiative is expected to significantly simplify identity verification across various sectors, from hotels and airports to everyday transactions.
