**NEW DELHI** – Tahawwur Rana, accused of facilitating the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, has been extradited to India from the United States. Newly released images from the US Justice Department show US Marshals handing Rana over to Indian Ministry of External Affairs representatives on April 9th. Rana, wearing a beige prison uniform, is seen being transferred at a secure location.
The 2008 attacks, carried out by ten Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) gunmen, left hundreds dead. While Rana is not accused of directly participating in the attacks, Indian authorities allege he played a crucial supporting role. He is suspected of using his Chicago immigration business to assist his childhood friend and co-conspirator, David Coleman Headley (Daood Gilani), in obtaining fraudulent travel documents for reconnaissance trips to India prior to the attacks.
