**Chennai, April 11, 2025** – K. Ponmudy, a senior leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and a Tamil Nadu Minister, has been removed from his post as the party’s deputy general secretary. The action follows the release of a video showing Mr. Ponmudy making controversial and allegedly misogynistic comments at a public event.
The decision was announced Friday morning in a brief statement from DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Earlier, fellow DMK leader and MP Kanimozhi had publicly condemned Mr. Ponmudy’s remarks on social media, stating that the derogatory speech was unacceptable regardless of the context.
