Thu Apr 10 22:34:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Congress Accuses BRS of Hypocrisy Over Kancha Gachibowli Land
**Hyderabad, April 11, 2025** – The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) government, questioning its handling of the Kancha Gachibowli land issue. The TPCC criticized the BRS’s claim that the 400-acre plot is “deemed to be forest,” highlighting the fact that a luxurious My Home Group apartment complex was built on adjacent land during the BRS’s tenure.
TPCC media and communications chairperson Sama Rammohan Reddy demanded an explanation for how the apartment complex received permissions and environmental clearances. He accused the BRS of hypocrisy, pointing to the alleged forced removal of trees at the University of Hyderabad for the Haritha Haram project, where planted saplings failed to survive. Reddy challenged BRS minister Harish Rao to a debate on this issue.
Reddy further questioned the BRS government’s oversight of urban expansion in Hyderabad, alleging a lack of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for major projects and the allocation of land for commercial purposes during its rule. The TPCC’s statement calls for greater transparency and accountability regarding the Kancha Gachibowli land and the BRS’s environmental policies.
