Fri Apr 11 05:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Braves Bolster Bullpen with Acquisition of Rafael Montero

**Atlanta, GA** – The Atlanta Braves announced Tuesday the acquisition of right-handed reliever Rafael Montero from the Houston Astros in exchange for a player to be named later and cash considerations. The deal significantly lessens the financial burden of Montero’s $11.5 million salary for the remainder of the season.

Montero, 34, brings a wealth of experience to Atlanta, having appeared in 71 games for Houston last year with a 2.37 ERA. While his ERA over the past two seasons sits at 4.94 across 109 appearances, Braves manager Brian Snitker expressed optimism. “They say he’s been throwing the ball well and he’s got experience,” Snitker commented. “Hopefully, we can help him get back to where he was.”

Montero has recently shown improved form, pitching three scoreless innings in his last two appearances after a rough season debut. He becomes a free agent at the season’s end. The Braves hope this move will strengthen their bullpen as they continue their push for the playoffs.
