Fri Apr 11 16:26:04 UTC 2025: ## Local Churches and Anglo-Indian Association Spread Easter Cheer Through Acts of Service

**Chennai, April 12, 2025** – This Easter, two Chennai organizations are demonstrating the true spirit of the holiday through extensive community service initiatives. Risen Christ Church in Peravallur is hosting its annual Palm Sunday blood donation camp on April 13th, partnering with ESI Hospital. Expecting 250-300 donors, the church aims to continue its 15-year tradition of combining religious observance with acts of selfless giving. The initiative builds upon the church’s successful promotion of organ donation in previous years.

Father M. Arulraj, the parish priest, emphasized the importance of eye donation, while Ronald Victor, vice president of Risen Christ Youth, highlighted Easter as a time for selfless giving. The church’s commitment extends beyond blood drives, encompassing health camps, eye screenings, and dental checkups.

Separately, the Perambur branch of the All India Anglo-Indian Association is continuing its long-standing Easter tradition of providing aid to needy Anglo-Indian families. President Penelope Mekertich explained that the association provides grocery bags, small sums of money, and essential hampers, with younger members actively involved in packing and distribution. Despite fluctuating membership, the association remains dedicated to supporting those in need, demonstrating a consistent commitment to community welfare. Both organizations exemplify the spirit of Easter by extending aid and hope to those less fortunate.
