Thu Apr 10 16:16:06 UTC 2025: ## Telangana to House Three NDRF Teams at Police Training Centre

**Hyderabad, April 10, 2025** – The Telangana government has approved the deployment of three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, totaling 40 rescuers, at the Hyderabad Police Training Centre for the next four years. This decision follows concerns raised by the NDRF Director General regarding Telangana’s vulnerability to natural disasters such as floods, fires, and building collapses.

Currently, one NDRF team is temporarily housed in inadequate facilities at the GHMC Sports Complex in Shaikpet. While land has been allocated for a permanent camp in Hameedullah Nagar, Shadnagar, construction is expected to take four years. The government’s decision to house three teams in Hyderabad aims to ensure a quicker response to emergencies within the city and surrounding areas, mitigating the delays caused by relying on reinforcements from Vijayawada, 315 km away. The quicker response time is crucial for maximizing the effectiveness of rescue efforts during the critical “golden hours” following a disaster.
