**Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra:** A week-long “Vichar Prabodhan Parva” (Enlightenment Festival) commenced today in Pimpri-Chinchwad to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Jotirao Phule and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Organized by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, the festival at Bhim Srushti Maidan will feature a diverse range of cultural and intellectual programs until April 16th.
The festival will include theatrical performances (including a one-act play, “Mee Jotibaachi Savitri”), musical concerts focusing on social reform and the contributions of Ambedkar and Phule, poetry recitals (Shahiri), discussions, seminars, and a symposium titled “From Krantisurya to Mahasurya: The Journey of the Revolution for Equality.” This symposium will feature prominent personalities including actors Makarand Anaspure and Sandeep Kulkarni, veteran journalist Arun Khore, intellectual Milind Tipnis, and writer Prabhakar Ovhal.

Sunday will see musical performances centered on the teachings of Buddha and Ambedkar. A helicopter flower shower over Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Pimpri is also planned, along with tribal dance performances. The festival will also include a performance by disabled artists, “Tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Wheels.”
The concluding event on April 16th will be a grand play, “Sanvidhan Shilpkar,” based on Dr. Ambedkar’s life and the Constitution’s creation, at the PWD ground in Sangvi.
