Thu Apr 10 11:59:15 UTC 2025: ## Drunk Police Constables Suspended in Tamil Nadu
**Erode, Tamil Nadu – April 10, 2025** – Two police constables in Tamil Nadu have been suspended after they reported for duty drunk during a temple festival. Prabakaran and Suresh, stationed at the Karungalpalayam Police Station, were assigned to the Bannari Mariamman Temple on April 7th. However, they arrived at the temple’s parking area at approximately 3 a.m. in a car, visibly intoxicated and in uniform.
A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Tiruppur district, monitoring the festival crowd, apprehended the constables after noticing their condition. Following an inquiry where the constables allegedly attempted to physically restrain the DSP, their car keys were confiscated and they were held until 6 a.m. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed their intoxication.
Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha launched a departmental inquiry, resulting in the suspension of both constables.
