**New Delhi, April 10, 2025** – Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key co-conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, arrived in India today following his extradition from the United States. His arrival follows the U.S. Supreme Court’s rejection of his last-ditch attempt to avoid extradition. A special flight brought Rana to Delhi, where he is expected to be lodged in Tihar jail.
A Delhi court has already received the trial records pertaining to the 26/11 attacks from a Mumbai court, in preparation for Rana’s trial. The records were transferred following a request by the National Investigation Agency. The transfer was necessary due to multiple cases related to the attacks being spread across Mumbai and Delhi courts.
Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-Canadian businessman, is a close associate of David Coleman Headley, another key conspirator in the attacks. He is accused of aiding the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists responsible for the coordinated attacks on November 26, 2008, which killed 166 people. The attacks targeted various locations including a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish center.
Rana’s extradition follows a U.S. court ruling that deemed his extradition to India legal. His arrival marks a significant step in bringing those involved in the devastating 26/11 attacks to justice.
