**New Delhi, April 10, 2025** – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced today the successful extradition of Tahawwur Hussain Rana from the United States. Rana is a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
The NIA statement credited years of sustained efforts by various Indian agencies, including the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with US authorities, such as the Department of Justice and US Sky Marshals. The statement also mentioned close cooperation with other Indian intelligence agencies and the National Security Guard (NSG).
While reports suggest Rana has arrived in Delhi, the NIA did not confirm his arrival in its statement. The extradition follows a protracted legal process to bring the alleged conspirator to justice. Security has been heightened outside the NIA headquarters in New Delhi ahead of Rana’s hearing.
