**New Delhi** – The extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, to India has been hailed as a victory, but for the family of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a NSG commando killed during the attacks, it’s not closure.

Speaking to NDTV, Major Unnikrishnan’s father, K. Unnikrishnan, described Rana’s return as “revenge” for the public, though not complete justice. He emphasized the need to extradite David Headley, another key conspirator, to ensure accountability for the 166 lives lost during the attacks.

Major Unnikrishnan, 31, displayed exceptional bravery during the siege of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, leading a team of commandos and ensuring the evacuation of his injured colleagues before sacrificing his life. His actions earned him the Ashok Chakra, India’s highest peacetime military decoration.

“Sandeep wasn’t a victim,” Mr. Unnikrishnan stated. “He was a security personnel who did his duty. Our main concern should be preventing future attacks.” While acknowledging the significance of Rana’s extradition, he stressed that it’s merely one step in a larger process. “It’s not closure. We have to get Coleman Headley,” he added.

Rana, who provided logistical and financial support to Headley according to NIA charges, faces charges of criminal conspiracy, waging war against India, murder, and forgery, among others. He is expected to arrive in Delhi later today and will be questioned by NIA officials. Mr. Unnikrishnan expressed confidence in the NIA’s investigation, stating, “This is a learned man. NIA has all the information, they were just waiting for him.”
