Thu Apr 10 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad on High Alert: Heavy Rains Expected Within the Hour
**Hyderabad, April 10, 2025** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Hyderabad, warning of intense rainfall within the next hour. The downpour is expected to continue throughout the night. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been put on high alert.
Strong winds and thunderstorms are already being reported in parts of Greater Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district. The IMD predicts that these conditions, including strong winds (30-40 kmph in Medchal and Ranga Reddy districts) and potential hail, will persist for the next two to three days due to a low-pressure system over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
The sudden drop in temperature has prompted the GHMC to deploy disaster response force (DRF) and monsoon teams to manage potential flooding and traffic congestion. Citizens are urged to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, as heavy traffic jams are anticipated as people rush home from work. The GHMC is taking precautions to prevent waterlogging.
The IMD also forecasts thunderstorms and rain for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the next two days. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions are expected to experience moderate to light rain with strong winds (30-50 kmph).
