**Siwan, Bihar:** A police officer was injured in Siwan, Bihar, after a mob attacked a police team attempting to arrest several intoxicated men. The incident, which occurred in Akolhi village on Wednesday, follows a string of recent violent attacks against police in the state.

The police team had detained a man for public intoxication, a crime under Bihar’s prohibition laws. However, as they attempted to transport him to the police station, a large group of villagers surrounded the police vehicle and launched a violent assault. The detained man was freed during the attack.

A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows several men physically assaulting a police officer while women and children watch nearby. The injured officer is receiving medical treatment.

This incident is the latest in a series of attacks against Bihar police officers. Earlier this week, six officers, including a woman, were injured during a raid in Rohtas district. Last month, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajiv Ranjan Mall tragically died from injuries sustained during a similar mob attack in Araria district while attempting an arrest.
