Thu Apr 10 11:54:14 UTC 2025: **Erode Collector Treks to Remote Hamlet to Address Residents’ Grievances**

ERODE, April 10, 2025 – Erode District Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara undertook a challenging journey on Wednesday to reach the remote hamlet of Kathirimalai, located in the Bargur Panchayat Union. Accompanied by officials, he traveled by tractor and trekked 1.5 km through rough terrain to meet with the approximately 80 tribal families residing there.

Kathirimalai, situated at an elevation of 1,200 meters in a reserve forest, is inaccessible by road. The existing WBM road, damaged by heavy rains, is unusable even for two-wheelers, forcing residents to trek 8.1 km to reach the foothills. The Collector’s visit included a mass contact program at the Government Tribal Residential Middle School, where he distributed welfare assistance to 31 beneficiaries and addressed residents’ concerns. He assured them that their petitions would be addressed and explained available government schemes. The Collector was accompanied by several officials from various departments.
